Born in Blumenau, Fábio Saggin began playing viola at age 10 in Brazil. He completed the bachelor’s degree at the Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina, in Florianópolis, studying with Dr. Leonardo Piermartiri, Ms. Fausto Kothe, and Prof. Marcelo Lemos. In 2018, Saggin finished the master’s degree in Viola Performance at Penn State University under the orientation of Dr. Timothy Deighton. In 2021, Saggin concluded the DMA program at UW-Madison, where he studied with Prof. Sally Chisholm. Recently, Saggin moved to Cincinnati to pursue an Artist Diploma at Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, studying with Dr. Catharine Lees. As an orchestral musician, he has been a member of many orchestras, among them: Orquestra Filarmônica de Goiás, Pennsylvania Chamber Orchestra, and Wisconsin Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2011, Saggin won the Concurso Rosa Mística (chamber music) and in 2015 he won the First National Viola Competition in Paraíba, Brazil. Recently, Saggin was awarded first prize in the first E-CONNVIO, an online viola competition organized by the Brazilian Viola Society.
