Vince Jesse attended the University of Wisconsin School of Music, starting out in classical guitar before switching the focus to jazz and composition.  After graduation he played in Phat Phunktion, a popular  R&B band, and spent some years working as a machinist. Eventually his interest in lutherie work transitioned from of hobby to a full-time career. He currently owns restores double basses at his business Double Bass Workshop in Madison, WI.
