IV. Season Finale: Harbison & Georgia O’Keeffe
In addition to our own 20th anniversary, we also celebrate the seventieth anniversary of artistic director John Harbison this season in a program featuring his music that is also a special collaboration with the Sun Prairie Historical Society’s annual celebration of their native daughter, Georgia O’Keeffe. The centerpiece of the program is Mr. Harbison’s Piano Quintet, written for the Santa Fe Festival (where Ms. O’Keeffe lived) and dedicated to her. The presentation will also include video footage of the premiere, with Ms. O’Keeffe interviewed and in attendance, as well as anecdotes and other memorabilia from that event. The program also includes Harbison’s Microwaltzes, for piano; Bach’s Sonata in F minor, for violin and keyboard; and Haydn’s Trio in G minor, Hob. XV:19, for violin, cello and piano.
