III. Jazz Club

The Music of Jimmy Van Heusen. We will trace the career of Jimmy Van Heusen from his beginnings as Chester Babcock, a teenage radio disc jockey in Syracuse, NY, to his charter membership in Frank Sinatra’s Hollywood Rat Pack. During his journey from platter spinner to hipster, he wrote tunes beloved by jazz musicians and listeners alike: “Darn That Dream,” “But Beautiful,” “Like Someone in Love,” and countless others. We welcome back New York vocalist Annette Sanders and trombonist Tom Artin (of Smithsonian Jazz) to join the Token Creek house band.
